Children & Adolescent Programs

Children and adolescents, like adults, can face mental health and behavioral problems that affect the way they act, feel and think. Brentwood provides inpatient treatment for children and adolescents ages 5 to 17 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties. Treatment is provided in a supportive, secure and controlled environment where children and teens can be treated effectively by a caring and compassionate team of mental health professionals.

The inpatient unit is designed with separate child and adolescent wings. Separate staff and programming ensure age-appropriate care. Our multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals is under the direction of a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist and consists of therapists, social workers, nurses, case managers, activity/recreational therapists and /or nutritionists. Individualized treatment plans are developed by integrating family, school, community agencies and other service providers.

Some of the problems we address are:

  • Threatening or destructive behavior
  • Self-destructive behavior
  • Depression
  • Attention and concentration disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Social withdrawal
