John Elgin Wilkaitis, M.D., M.S - Chief Medical Officer

John Elgin Wilkaitis, M.D., M.S. is Chief Medical Officer of Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare. He is a graduate of University of Mississippi Medical School and completed a general psychiatry residency there as well. From there he completed a two year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, one of the leading children’s hospitals in the country. There, he was involved with some of the leading research in the areas of pediatric bipolar disorder with Dr. Melissa Delbello. He is board certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. He is an active member of The Mississippi Youth Suicide Prevention Council and The Pediatric Mental Health Task Force. He is also an adjunctive assistant professor at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in the department of psychiatry. He remains interested in research topics in bipolar disorder, ADHD, and sleep disorders.
