Douglas Byrd, M.D. - Director of Adolescent Male Unit and Utilization Management
Dr. Byrd is Director of Adolescent Male Unit and Utilization Management at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare of MS. Dr. Byrd has been associated with Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare since 2001. Dr. Byrd is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College Of Medicine. He completed his residency in psychiatry and pediatrics and 12-month fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Byrd is board certified in psychiatry and board eligible in pediatrics. Dr. Byrd is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Byrd maintains a private practice in Jackson, Mississippi.
Krishan K. Gupta, M.D. - Director of Adult and Female Adolescent Program and Outpatient
Dr. Gupta is the Director of Adult and Female Adolescent Program and Outpatient at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare of MS. Dr. Gupta is a board eligible psychiatrist and has been associated with Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare since 2001. Dr. Gupta received his medical degree in medicine and surgery from Delhi University, India and completed his psychiatric residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Prior to coming to Brentwood Behavioral, Dr. Gupta served as Psychiatric Medical Director at Claiborne County Hospital Behavioral Health Unit and Jefferson County Hospital Behavioral Health Unit. Dr. Gupta served as clinical tutor in Forensic Medicine at the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India. Dr. Gupta maintains a private practice in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Joseph A. Kwentus, M.D. - Member of Medical Staff
Dr. Kwentus is Director of Adult Services at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare of MS and has been associated with Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare since 2003. Dr. Kwentus is a graduate of St. Louis University Medical School, St. Louis, MO, and completed his psychiatry internship at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Kwentus completed his residency in psychiatry at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and residency in Neurology at Georgetown, Washington, D.C. He completed a fellowship in neurophysiology at UCLA, Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Kwentus is board certified in Psychiatry, Neurology, Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Neurophysiology, Forensic Psychiatry, Pain Management, Sleep Medicine, Psychosomatic, Addiction Medicine, Clinical Psychopharmacology, Sleep Disorders Medicine, and Polysomnography. Dr. Kwentus has held many positions in academia such as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University, Professor and Interim Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Kwentus is also Founder, President, and Principal Investigator of Precise Research Centers.
Sagar Patel, M.D. - Staff Psychiatrist
Dr. Patel has been a member of the medical staff at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare since 2008. Dr. Patel is board certified in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Patel received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi, School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Patel completed his fellowship in sleep disorders at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and Southern Sleep Society. Dr. Patel maintains a private practice in Ridgeland, MS.
John Elgin Wilkaitis, M.D., M.B.A., C.P.E., M.S. - Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Wilkaitis is Chief Medical Officer and Director of Child Services at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare of MS and has been associated with Brentwood Behavioral since 2007. He has served as Chief Medical Officer since 2008. Dr. Wilkaitis is a graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical School where he completed a general psychiatry residency. Dr. Wilkaitis completed a two year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where he was involved with some of the leading research in the areas of pediatric bipolar disorder.
Dr. Wilkaitis is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and addiction medicine. Dr. Wilkaitis is an active member of the Mississippi Youth Suicide Prevention Council and Pediatric Mental Health Task Force. He has been appointed to the executive council of the Mississippi Psychiatric Association and the American Association of Psychiatric Administrators. Dr. Wilkaitis is an adjunctive assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in the department of psychiatry. Dr. Wilkaitis remains interested in research topics in bipolar disorder and ADHD. Dr. Wilkaitis maintains a private practice in Flowood, MS.
